Avast Web Shield continuously tests information that is moving through the internet and stops any possible infections in real time. This protects you against ransomware that blocks your files and requires a payment in order to unlock them. It also shields you from Trojans which pose as legitimate software, but infect your device with malware. Web shield also detects phishing sites which attempt to steal your personal information.
Avira provides multiple settings that you can adjust to personalize how avast web shield works. You can, for example change the sensitivity setting that controls the intensity with which avast Web Shield scans data when connecting to internet. You can also turn off or on HTTPS scanning scan, script scanning, and block botnet attacks. You can also create an exclusion list to block certain programs from being detected by web shield.
If avast finds malware or an unwelcome program on your computer, avast will try to repair the file first. If the file cannot be repaired, it will be moved to Quarantine. You will also receive a notification. You can also set a default action that avast takes when a threat is detected.
You can add a web page or app that you are sure is secure to the exceptions list so it won’t be blocked again. This is done by clicking the Real-Time Shields tab and then selecting the Web Shield or File Shield his explanation item in the list. The Avast Security app and Avast One app have distinct methods of adding apps or websites to the exceptions lists.
